My story

My roots lie in Arabic-oriental music. My older brother also plays the ud, and that's how my journey began when I was a child. The first piece I played was a famous song by Fairouz: Bint al-Shalabiyya. I've been playing with CCO since its inception, although I've also taken a break for a while. In 2023, my friend Wisam asked me to return, and I've been playing again ever since.

My input in the orchestra

I represent Syria and the Middle East in the orchestra, along with others. My instrument, the ud, isn't well-known in the Netherlands, but it is the most beloved instrument in that region. I also often teach students about the ud, traditional Arabic music, and the music we create with Catching Cultures.
